Intratek Computer, Inc. is looking for a dynamic IBM AIX System Administrator to support our client in Santa Ana, CA for a long term contract
position
with potential to be a contract to hire role, or an extended duration contract.

Senior AIX System Administrator
Santa Ana, CA
Contract to Hire
Monday through Friday with some off hours support (40 hours)

Responsibilities:
Become familiar with our client's IBM environment. This includes the following subtasks:
Tour our client datacenter and become familiar with equipment configuration.
IBM Power Series Servers (P570, P690). Review server configurations and logs. Become familiar with the LPARs, HMC, applications, databases and scripts running on each server.
Review and become familiar with Fiber Channel Switch's (Brocade, Cisco and Avaya)
Storage Arrays - (2) DS8100's and (1) XIV. Review Oracle & SQL Server databases and applications stored on each.
TSM. Review Tivoli tape backup device, configuration and backup scripts.
Evaluate our client's entire IBM infrastructure and report on the general status of our physical P-series servers, storage arrays and Tivoli tape system.
Report existing device warnings and errors that could lead to a device malfunction or failure. Recommend configuration improvements, firmware upgrades, security improvements, OS and software upgrades.
Identify and decipher shell scripts. Create or enhance new scripts as necessary.
Review present storage allocations, growth rates, pending thresholds and future space requirements.
Work directly with our client's System and Database administrators to produce complete system documentation.
Document what LPARs, applications, databases and scripts are running on each server.
Document the configuration of LPAR's.
Document what applications and databases are running on each SAN
Qualifications Needed:
7
years of experience administrating and supporting AIX based IBM Power 7
Series and 5, 6 and 7 servers.
7
years of experience maintaining IBM DS8000, DS8100 and XIV Storage Arrays
5
years of experience supporting IBM's Tivoli Tape Management System.
5
years producing, troubleshooting and maintaining complex shell scripting is desired, but not required
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are mandatory.
Team oriented individual with knowledge of project management fundamentals and time management practices desired
