As an Underwriter, you will:
- Responsible for monitoring DE Underwriter and Lender Activities and referring situations and questionable practices that may affect their further participation in HUD/FHA programs to the appropriate Field Office or Center Analyses Staff through the Chief Underwriter or Supervisor.- Serve as Government Technical Monitor (GTM) ensuring that requirements of contracts, servicing the Center's functions are being met. - Provide telephone and written guidance and technical assistance to DE Underwriters. Experience:
For the GS-12, you must have one (1) year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent. Specialized experience for this position includes:
-Reviewing and issuing a conditional commitment of single family property appraisals (1-4 units) as a Direct Endorsement (DE) Underwriter or parallel experience analyzing property appraisals (1-4 units) for other types of mortgage loans; AND-Making decisions as a Direct Endorsement (DE) Underwriter, Company Delegated Underwriter, or Senior Level Analyst issuing the approval or rejection of the credit analysis of a potential borrower's mortgage application; AND -Applying underwriting guidelines to make recommendations or decisions on single family mortgage insurance applications, including Federal Housing Administration (FHA) or Private Mortgage Insurance (PMI).

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
