Financial Specialist

If selected for this position you will serve as a Financial Specialist for Security Operations (SO), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Department of Homeland Security (DHS). You will function as a liaison between the Federal Security Director (FSD) and the TSA Headquarters concerning budget and financial management matters for the airport. Duties include but are not limited to:
Providing budget analysis, cost analysis, cost scheduling, and cost estimating of activities in order to monitor airport funding and ensuring budget requirements are met. Providing financial management expertise and technical advice and guidance to FSD management and the Administrative Officer. Reviewing cost performance reports and cost estimates prepared by TSA Headquarters and analyzing and evaluating reports to track and validate airport funding. To qualify for the SV-H Pay Band (equivalent to GS-12), you must have at least one year of specialized experience at the SV-G Pay Band or GS-11 in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience includes:
(1) implementing and evaluating complex accounting and financial programs, policies, and accounts; (2) researching, analyzing, interpreting, and providing advice and counsel to program officials on financial policies, procedures, and laws; and (3) compiling, developing, and presenting complex accounting, financial data, statements, and reports.National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience):
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.Note:
Credit for experience is given based on a 40-hour workweek. Part-time experience is credited on a part-time ratio, i.e., working 20 hours per week for two months equals one month of experience. No additional credit is given for overtime.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
